-Christophe, congratulations on Ascoli Piceno's victory in the Victoria Mile.
(Lemaire) Thank you. I knew she had potential, so I'm glad she was able to achieve this result. She also showed a great run in her previous race in Saudi Arabia. This time it was a G1 race in Japan, but it was a race for fillies only, so I think the conditions were right for her.
-It had rained the day before, how was the condition of the track?
(Lemaire) One thing I was concerned about was the heavy ground. I was worried because he wasn't able to show his full potential in the Golden Eagle in Australia. I rode him at Tokyo Racecourse the day before, on Saturday, and it rained all day.
-In that situation, were you concerned about track bias (advantages or disadvantages of the track)?
(Lemaire) If I ride in a race in the morning, I can get a sense of the track conditions to some extent. Even if I'm not actually riding, I check the replay to see from which position the winning horse is gaining ground. This race was on the outside, so I thought about where I could race in the race. As a result, I was able to mark Queen's Walk and advance in a good position.

(Lemaire) That's right (laughs). It would be a little embarrassing to be told in front of a large crowd, "46-year-old jockey Lemaire won!" So I jokingly made a pose saying, "Don't say that!" (laughs). Actually, my birthday is May 20th, which coincides with the Victoria Mile and Oaks every year. My previous birthday was when I won the Oaks with Almond Eye.

(Lemaire) I rode Embroidery in her final workout at Miho. Her body balance and muscular structure looked very good. She won the Oka Sho in a strong manner with jockey Moreira aboard. Her pedigree is that of Admire Mars and her dam's sire is Kurofune, so how she handles the 2,400m distance may be key. However, at this time of year in the spring of her three-year-old years, there are many horses who can handle the distance based on their potential, and there is a strong tendency for top Oka Sho winners to also perform well in the Oaks.

(Lemaire) This will be my first time riding him in a race, but I've checked the replays carefully. In his previous race, the Kyoto Shimbun Hai, he kept a good tame pace at 1 minute 3 seconds over the 1000m mark, and his acceleration in the straight was also strong. I rode him in the final workout one week before the race at Ritto. Jockey Masayoshi Kawada happened to be in the jockey's waiting room, so we spoke about how the horse felt. This horse is managed by Tomomichi Stables, a reliable stable that has previously ridden Derby winners such as Makahiki, Wagnerian, and Dodeuce.

(Lemaire) To be honest, I had no idea they were dating (laughs). I found out about it through online news. Koto-san used to work as a staff member at the "CL by C. Lemaire" pop-up store. She was always cheerful, polite to customers, and very considerate. Her father is trainer Shikado, so she also had a wealth of knowledge about horses. I sincerely wish the two of them happiness.
-Finally, please say a few words to your fans.
(Lemaire) The G1 season is still on, but we will continue to strive for the best performance. Everyone, please continue to support horse racing and "CL by C. Lemaire"!
