Christophe rode two horses in training at Ritto Training Center on Wednesday, May 1st. One month has passed since his fall in Dubai on March 30th, and he will be returning to racing this weekend. "It had been a while since my last time on a horse, but I quickly regained my sense of touch. I heard some surprised comments like, 'You're back already?' but I wasn't in a rush and just prepared for recovery one step at a time. Even during my break, I kept an eye on the weekend races. Being a jockey is my job, so horse racing was always on my mind. In the NHK Mile Cup, I will be paired with Ascoli Piceno. He is the horse I beat in my debut race with, and he has been getting stronger and stronger since then, so I'm looking forward to it," he said, expressing his enthusiasm for the weekend races.

Meanwhile, on April 27th, I had the opportunity to speak with Tetsuzo Sato at the "CL by C. Lemaire" pop-up store at Umeda Hankyu. Sato retired from jockey duties after a fall from a horse, but he began by saying, "I've never regretted not being able to ride anymore." The pop-up store's floor is a "sustainable floor," so when asked about "horse racing" and "nature," he warmed the audience with his response: "The racecourse is spacious, so you can come into contact with nature. When Lemaire is riding, it's natural that the favorite will be there." We also talked about his time as a jockey and answered questions from customers who came to the store. The hour or so passed by in an instant.
Ryuichi Obana, with whom he has collaborated on several T-shirt designs, was also in attendance and said, "I originally wanted to be a horse racing jockey. As I grew older, I gave up on that dream, but I've loved making things since I was a child, and after that I went into design. I now have a horse owner's license for local horse racing, and I also own horses in Australia. Horse racing has a story, and I like to chase dreams. This is my second year working with Christophe, and this year I want to give back to him."
Regarding the autograph session at the pop-up store, Kristoff expressed his gratitude, saying, "I was happy to meet so many people. I received a lot of encouraging words, which motivated me to make a comeback."
This weekend marks the first day of his return. Let's all wear "CL by C. Lemaire" clothing and go to Tokyo Racecourse to cheer him on!!
